Mara Yanauchi will be inspiring the young athletes at the Summer School Games

Mara Yamauchi.jpg5This years Sporting Champion attending the Summer School Games level 3 Competition hosted by Marlborough College is Mara Yamauchi. It is great to have such an accomplished athlete to speak at the opening ceremony and inspire the young people in the crowd. School Children from across Wiltshire and Swindon will be competing at the county event on the 4th July.

Mara Yamauchi's Story.

In April 2009, she set her personal best of 2:23:12 in the London Marathon, a time which ranks her as the 2nd fastest British female marathon runner ever. Mara came 6th at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing which equals the best place ever by a British woman in the Olympic marathon. 

Mara is the 2nd fastest British woman for the marathon behind Paul Radcliffe and won a bronze medal at 10,000m at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

She is now a corporate & personal running coach, Japanese-speaker, proud Ambassador for ASICS

Third, Yokohama International Women's Marathon 2011
