DfE Volunteering School Games apprenticeship Scheme 2014 Article Count: 2
DfE volunteers School Games apprentice’s 2014
The focus of the 2014 /15 volunteering investment, is primarily to support delivery of Levels 1-3 of the Sainsbury’s School Games, with an emphasis on level 2 (inter-school competition).Funding will be available to help find, train and deploy volunteer leaders and coaches, (to include; officials, organisers and other similar roles) to help schools deliver the School Games. The volunteers may support Level 3 games, but it is expected that their focus will be on Level 2 events (inter-school competition).
In conjunction with the School Games Organisers (SGOs), CSPs will assist schools in their area that in particular, but not exclusively, require volunteer help in and around the support of level 2 School Games – This may include helping them to stage their new competitions for this coming year’s funding.
The DfE Volunteering investment will be used by CSPs to identify and deploy adult volunteers aged 16 years and over, once again, but not exclusively targeted around level 2 of the School Games. It is expected that a focus will be given to volunteers aged 16-25 years .These volunteer coaches and leaders will all:
- Be CRB/DBS checked;
- Receive an induction about the School Games and the types of roles available;
- Receive appropriate training for their role; and
- Where appropriate, receive regular communication / support from the CSP.
Recruitment for the next cohort of volunteers for the 2014 / 15 programme, will commence at the start of the new School year in Sept 2014. Further details will be available as and when applicable.
