South Coast Tigers Basketball Club

IMG 20170621 WA0003Our primary school sessions focus on multi skills for the younger year groups and gradually progress into more basketball specific skills with the older age groups.

Our coaches work with the schools curriculum needs offering movement, coordination, fine and large motor skills, numbers, colours etc to be able to deliver a more comprehensive programme for the students. We incorporate knowledge of history and rules for basketball throughout all age groups for the students to get a better understanding of why and how basketball is played.

We are looking to deliver a Mini Ballers (younger age groups) session followed by a Youth Development session for those primary students who may be interested in developing their basketball skills. As our club is working alongside Bournemouth University to increase knowledge and ability of basketball in the Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire communities we will be using all of their resources to provide the best service possible.

All of our club coaches carry with them in a "Coaches File" their Coaching Qualification (not less than a Level 2) as well as an up to date Enhanced DBS certificate and Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance through our NGB Basketball England. All coaches have attended a course on  "Coaches Teaching PE in School Curriculum Time". Our coaches also bring with them all of the equipment needed to deliver their sessions.

Here are some quotes from schools where we deliver sessions:

Bridport Primary: "We had basketball coaching for two half terms in my year 1 class. The children absolutely adored learning from Coach Luca and we could hardly believe how dramatically their skills improved! Now their sportsmanship and teamwork skills are truly amazing! Thank you!"

Broadwindsor Primary: "The children really enjoyed their basketball sessions. They learnt lots of real basketball skills. Coach Luca was encouraging and supportive and the children responded well to his clear instructions."

Mere Primary: "It was brilliant and I really want to do it again. Coach Luca inspired me to play basketball" Charlie Year 4

"It was great fun. Coach Luca taught us a lot of skills. I want to do it again." George Year 5

" It was fun. I learned to have more control and enjoyed trying the tricks." Jack Year 6

"It has been great to see the children learning a new sport from an expert coach. They had a brilliant time practicing the skills and putting them into a game situation.
